The SKYACTIV Technology Explained

Since 2012, Mazda offers a truly exclusive technology called SKYACTIV. You've heard about this technology before, but you may have questions about how it works or its usefulness. This article should be able to enlighten you.

For starters, you should know that SKYACTIV is not necessarily a specific technology or a particular system. Rather, it is a set of technologies that applies to multiple components on new Mazda vehicles including the engine, transmission, body and chassis. The philosophy behind SKYACTIV also dictates several technological developments in recent years such as G-Vectoring Control and the i-ACTIV AWD system.

With SKYACTIV technology everything is optimized. The engine, for example, benefits from a freer exhaust system that promotes air circulation which makes the model more economical. A very high compression ratio makes it possible to extract as much energy as possible from each drop of gasoline. The gearboxes are optimized to be lighter and more compact while the chassis is lighter while being stiffer.

With the SKYACTIV system, new Mazda vehicles are more efficient and more fuel efficient. Come learn more today at Mazda Laval!
