Mazda unveils 2023 Mazda3 and Mazda3 Sport pricing and versions

The 2023 Mazda3 will have a starting price of $21,600 for front-wheel drive models, and $27,900 for all-wheel drive models. The first model to arrive will be the 2023 Mazda3 Sport which goes on sale this fall while the 2023 Mazda3 sedan will go on sale this winter.

More power for the 2023 Mazda3

For 2023, Mazda engineers have made significant enhancements to the 2.5-litre, four-cylinder SKYACTIV-G engine which powers the Mazda3. This enhanced powertrain now delivers 191 hp and 186 pound-feet of torque, making it significantly more powerful than what the competition can offer. Moreover, this engine includes an updated cylinder deactivation system which provides even better efficiency.

These improvements will allow the 2023 Mazda3 to average just 6.4 L per 100 km on the highway, and offer a combined fuel economy rating of just 7.6 L per 100 km. The 2023 Mazda3 will therefore not just be one of the most powerful vehicles in its class, but also one of the most efficient.

In the entry-level GX trim, buyers will continue to enjoy the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine with 155 hp and 150 pound-feet of torque. This engine has also been improved to deliver better efficiency.

The base model also comes with a wide range of advanced features including advanced blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, Mazda Connect services, and the full suite of i-ACTIVESENSE safety technologies. Push-button start, remote keyless entry, rearview camera, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the latest Mazda Connect infotainment system housed in an 8.8-inch centre display are all part of the new Mazda3's base features.

The 2023 Mazda3 and Mazda3 GS will continue to be offered with both the 2.0-litre engine or the improved 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine that we described above. Both engines can be paired with either a six-speed manual gearbox, or a six-speed automatic gearbox.

Of course, the highlight of the Mazda3 lineup returns this year with the impressive new Mazda3 SKYACTIV-G 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder that delivers 250 hp and 320 pound-feet of torque. This is with premium fuel, but even with regular fuel, you still get 227 hp and 310 pound-feet of torque.

The 2023 Mazda3 will be offered in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel drive models, with AWD models starting at $27,900. The Mazda3 GT Turbo starts at $36,100, The Mazda3 Sport with over 500 litres of cargo space starts at $22,600, and costs $1,000 more across the lineup.
